About Us
What is NBCASAR? Well...you've come to the right place to get answers!
NBCASAR Inc. (NBCasar) was born right around when the national Civil Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA) body was formed in 1986. Providing our service in New Brunswick and surrounding areas, we have the opportunity of assisting the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) in searching for missing aircraft or persons tasked by the Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC).
We have approximately 50+ members to conduct searches across NB and its surrounding areas. This includes joint taskings with our neighbouring MO's (member organizations) like CASARA NS, CASARA PEI, and SERABEC (Québec Member Organization). At NBCasara, we are a set of fully dedicated volunteers that are integrated within the SAR community that contribute to successful searches within the maritimes. As a closely integrated MO with others, we do regional SAREX’s with CASARA NS and CASARA PEI to keep co-operational training in check to help aid our ability and effectiveness in searches and rescue.
Each member is given the opportunity to certify in various positions. You can learn more about our available positions and various requirements here. As members you can be involved with the air crew or ground crew to support search and rescue operations. We fly Cessna 182 privately owned aircraft, plus serve as spotters in CC-130 "Herc" Hercules aircraft and Cormorant CC-149 aircraft when requested by the RCAF.
Alongside our search and rescue operations, our organization is involved with promoting aviation safety and ensuring safe operations in air or on ground.
